About

Sengo Muramasa DX: Guren no Kettou reimagines 1930s Japan as a fractured world still ruled by samurai clans. You play as Sanada Yukiaki, a warrior descended from a legendary rebel, navigating a conflict where the Tokugawa shogunate fuels imperial ambitions. The game weaves turn-based tactical battles with visual novel storytelling, letting you manage alliances, make morally gray decisions, and reshape the war’s outcome. Combat balances unit positioning and resource management, while branching dialogue paths alter relationships and war objectives. The setting blends historical figures with speculative tech, creating a tense clash between tradition and modernity. This limited edition adds a full-color artbook and original soundtrack CD, expanding on the base game’s already detailed world. The tactical system demands careful planning, with unit types and terrain offering deep strategic layers. Fans of nuanced war narratives and grid-based combat might appreciate the 4.5/5 score from Japanese RPG forums. The story’s focus on political intrigue and legacy over straightforward heroism sets it apart from typical sword-and-sorcery fare. The Vita port ensures portability, though the dense text and slower pacing may not suit everyone’s playstyle.

Storyline

In 1939, the entire world was plunged back into war even while it hasn’t fully recovered from the wounds of the last one. It was not long before the wartime fire reached the Pacific. The power of the Tokugawa shogunate had not yet weakened, and Japan began to attack its neighbor. It was at this time that one Sanada Yukiaki appeared, the descendent of Sanada Yukimura who had bared his fangs at Tokugawa Ieyasu.
