Shadow Puppeteer lets you control light and shadow alongside a partner to solve puzzles and cross levels. One player guides the boy while the other controls his shadow, using their contrasting abilities to navigate obstacles. The game mixes platforming with environmental manipulation, requiring coordination to unlock paths and bypass traps. A distinct Nordic-inspired aesthetic fills the world with moody forests and eerie interiors, complementing the interplay of illumination and darkness. The game’s co-op design emphasizes collaboration over competition, with puzzles built around dual perspectives. While critical reception was mixed, many praised the creative mechanics and art direction. Its 2014 release offered a fresh take on local multiplayer, though uneven level design and technical issues on some platforms drew complaints. Still, the core idea of teamwork through light and shadow remains a standout.
The boy is one of the many people that have been separated from their shadows by the mischievous Shadow Puppeteer. Luckily, his shadow managed to elude capture and together they chase the villain to free the stolen shadows. Manipulate the objects and their shadow in a cohesive play between you and your friend, in order to solve puzzles and get past all the challenges that lay ahead on your great journey.
