Shrek: Hassle at the Castle is a 2D side-scroller where you punch and jump your way through hordes of enemies across城堡 levels. The gameplay blends platforming with beat-'em-up combat letting you switch between Shrek and Donkey to tackle obstacles and baddies. Each stage is a linear crawl filled with familiar faces from the movie all rendered in chunky pixel art. Simple controls and straightforward objectives make it easy to pick up though the repetitive enemy types and limited variety in level design keep it from standing out. The game leans heavily into its source material with scenes and characters that fans will recognize. While it doesn't offer much beyond a basic action fix its nostalgic value and portable format made it a decent pocket-sized distraction in 2002. Community reviews are mixed but many note it's a solid if forgettable entry in the Shrek franchise that captures the movie's tone without adding much of its own.
