Silent Mobius is a visual novel adventure game from Gainax that blends sci-fi and fantasy. Set in 1999, a group of magicians opens a portal to a mysterious dimension called Nemesis to save Earth’s environment. When one of them betrays the mission, hostile creatures flood the planet. Twenty-four years later, an all-female police unit hunts these threats while figuring out the past. Players navigate story-driven segments and turn-based battles, with choices shaping the outcome. The game leans into serialized drama, mixing action with political intrigue and moral gray areas. Though it didn’t gain mass popularity, Silent Mobius has a niche reputation. Gainax’s name carries weight, but the title remains largely obscure outside Japan. Its mix of mecha, magic, and moral dilemmas feels dense, with a plot that leans into faction conflicts and character backstories. The 1990 release date and regional exclusivity limited its reach, but fans of late-80s/early-90s anime-inspired narratives might recognize its themes.
In the year 1999, the Guild of Magicians was about to open a portal to the mysterious dimension of Nemesis, intending to rejuvenate Earth's polluted atmosphere. However, one of the magicians betrayed the Guild and used the portal for his own gain, releasing hostile creatures known as Lucifer Hawk onto Earth. Twenty-four years later, a special all-female unit known as Attacked Mystification Police was formed to combat the enemy.
