Silver Flash: Pinball 1 is a straightforward pinball simulation for the TRS-80 that prioritizes simple mechanics over flash. Players control a single table with four flippers, navigating a ball launched from the top right corner. The game introduces tilt mechanics that penalize aggressive shaking, adding a layer of precision to each shot. Each round gives three balls to keep things moving, and the screen constantly tracks progress with clear visual feedback. The real hook is its multiplayer support, letting up to four players take turns on the same table. The right side of the screen displays each participant’s score in real time, turning every rebound into a mini-competition. While the monochrome graphics and basic sound effects won’t wow modern players, purists appreciate the focused design and the challenge of balancing flipper timing with tilt avoidance. Released on New Year’s Eve 1981, it’s a relic of early home computing that still works better than most of its contemporaries.
