Slap Shot: Super Pro Hockey is a straightforward ice hockey game built for two-player contests or solo challenges. You pick a difficulty from four tiers that directly tweak the pacing of the action, with faster speeds as you climb from Amateur to Super Pro. Each side fields three skaters and a goalie, with you steering one player at a time while the others move on their own. The home squad wears tan uniforms and the visitors don green, with color contrast helping you track your controlled character. Goalies are entirely handled by the system, leaving you to focus on scoring while fending off automated defenders. The game originally launched in 1987 but saw a strange revival in 2018 when Blue Sky Rangers tracked down hundreds of leftover cartridges and had fresh boxes and labels produced. This second wave of physical copies surprised collectors and turned the title into a cult curiosity. Despite its dated graphics, the control simplicity and escalating challenge from each skill level keep it playable for short bursts, with the single-player mode offering a decent test of reflexes and positioning.
