About

Sluggish Morss: A Delicate Time in History is a surreal narrative-driven game set in a sky filled with endless flocks of songbirds. You control a lark navigating a world without land, grappling with the death of her father and the challenge of storing his memory in her head. Gameplay revolves around drifting through dense, chaotic flocks, interacting with environmental fragments, and piecing together the story through abstract visuals and sparse dialogue. The mechanics are minimal but meditative, focusing on atmosphere over action. The game’s dreamlike aesthetic and poetic themes have left a niche mark on indie circles. Players often note its hauntingly simple soundtrack and the emotional weight of its bizarre premise. While short and ambiguous, it lingers in memory, both for its oddity and the way it turns grief into a literal, physical concept. Released in 2013, it’s still occasionally discussed in forums for its bold creativity, though its tiny bird-filled world remains largely unexplored by mainstream audiences.

Storyline

Only air and birds everywhere but the thing was there was no place to land because there was no land. So they just circled around and around because this was before the world began and the sound was deafening. Songbirds were everywhere. Billions and billions and billions of birds. One of these birds was a lark and one day her father died and this was a really big problem because what should they do with the body? There was no place to put the body because there was no earth. Finally the lark had a solution. She decided to bury her father in the back of her own head. And this was the beginning of memory because before this no one could remember a thing. They were just constantly flying in circles. Constantly flying in huge circles.
