About

Snack Attack is a maze-based arcade game where you steer a character through a grid of snacks while dodging enemies. The goal is to gobble every treat onscreen before getting caught. Movement is tight and responsive, with ghosts patrolling the corridors in predictable but threatening patterns. Power-ups let you reverse the ghosts' direction, adding brief strategy to the frantic chase. The Apple II's limitations keep the visuals simple but functional, relying on quick reflexes and pathfinding to keep things engaging. This early 1980s release holds a cultish place among retro gaming collectors. While not expanding much on the formula it borrows, it executes its premise with efficiency that aligns with the era's arcade-to-home port philosophy. The single-player focus and brief level design make it feel like a concise snack itself, best played in short bursts. Its 20-year gap between release and modern rediscovery means few still remember it, but diehard fans of 8-bit games often cite it as a charmingly unambitious throwback.
