About

Solo is a side-scrolling shooter from 1989 designed for Opera Soft's Gun Stick optical gun. You play as Carlitos, a kid navigating a treacherous route to school. The screen fills with hostile creatures and troublemakers as you click and shoot to keep moving forward. Basic mechanics focus on quick reflexes and timing, with simple controls that center around the gun peripheral. The game stands out for its oddly specific setting, a child's grim commute, and the dated charm of 80s arcade-style action. While not graphically ambitious by today's standards, the straightforward combat and frantic pace might appeal to retro gaming fans. Its niche hardware requirement makes it a curiosity, but the sheer absurdity of the concept alone makes it worth a look for collectors of old-school oddities.

Storyline

Eight thirty in the morning: Carlitos starts his hard day: breakfast, washing his ears, going to school..., but that's not the worst of it. The way to school is full of dangers, gigantic and voracious rats, thugs, and a whole fauna of urban beings stalk the children on their way to school, how hard life is! Crestfallen, fearful, Carlitos walks through the dark streets of the neighborhood on a frosty morning. Any shadow frightens him, unexpectedly he finds himself surrounded by enemies. Poor Carlitos, NO!!!!
