About

Soltys is a 1995 point-and-click adventure set in the fictional Polish village of Wąchock. You take on the role of the village chief tasked with tracking down your daughter’s runaway groom, Leon, who fled the altar to avoid marrying her. The gameplay revolves around exploring a network of location icons that expand as you progress from 8 to 24 sites. You collect items and solve puzzles using a mix of logic and humor, with dialogue and environmental clues often leaning into local wordplay and cultural quirks. The game stands out for its irreverent humor and dense layering of Polish jokes, many tied to solving its puzzles. While its DOS-era visuals and interface feel dated, the clever writing and escalating absurdity of the plot have earned it a cult following among retro adventure fans. Its small-scale design and reliance on wit over spectacle make it a niche but memorable entry in the genre’s history.

Storyline

You play the head of the village of Wąchock and your aim is to find the missing husband of your daughter (who apparently isn't very attractive if you know what I mean). Scared of his future, Leon decides to run away from the wedding and you are responsible for bringing this poor guy back.
