Son Son is a 1984 side-scrolling platformer from Capcom where two characters navigate floating platforms with small gaps between them. The screen scrolls automatically but pressing left or right adjusts speed, slowing down or moving faster than the background. Up and down buttons switch platforms while the only attack is firing energy blasts from stalves. Getting hit costs a life but a cloud respawns you with temporary invincibility until you start moving again. The co-op mode pairs players as TonTon making it one of the earliest two-player platformers. Power-ups like fruit turn enemies into point-gathering targets with random bamboo shoots offering bonus points. Though not widely known it’s praised by retro gaming circles for its simple yet addictive mechanics and quirky character design. A cult hit that laid groundwork for later co-op classics.
