About

Soukaigi is an action RPG where you battle alien Garan creatures invading Earth by destroying colored crystals. Each level requires clearing red, yellow, and blue Garan stones to shift a progress bar from red to blue. While some stones are optional, others are essential to unlock the next stage. Killing enemies also raises the bar but at a slower rate. Combat blends real-time action with elemental abilities, letting you switch between three characters with distinct magic skills. The PlayStation original runs on updated hardware but retains its 90s charm with pixelated visuals and a top-down perspective. The game’s standout is its catchy soundtrack by Hiroki Kikuta, best known for Secret of Mana. The premise of a split Mt. Fuji unleashing interdimensional monsters feels surprisingly bold for its time. Though forgotten by most, fans of niche RPGs praise its addictive crystal-clearing mechanic and tight pacing. With no multiplayer or modern conveniences, it’s a straight-forward challenge that rewards patience and strategy.

Storyline

A dark act has caused Mt. Fuji to split in half bringing forth the Garan. The Garan are creatures whose sole mission is to take over the Earth. The Garan's power is contained in red, yellow, and blue crystals. There are also large Garan scattered throughout Japan, and they must be destroyed in order to save the Earth from the invasion of the Garan. Brave souls, with various elemental powers will try and stop the spread of the Garan.
