Space Harrier is a fast-paced shooter where you pilot a lone space ranger through waves of advancing enemies. The Sharp X68000 version ditches the original arcade’s checkerboard floor for clean horizontal lines, focusing attention on the rapid 3D-style action. Gameplay revolves around dodging formations of aircraft and mechs while firing in all directions. The challenge ramps sharply as the stage progresses, demanding quick reflexes and precise movement. The X68000 port adds Haya-Oh as a final boss, a towering mech introduced in the Sega Master System version. Its ending expands with an epilogue and a tally of every enemy defeated, a small but satisfying touch. While the visuals feel dated by modern standards, the tight controls and punishing difficulty keep it engaging for fans of retro arcade intensity. Shorter stages let you test strategies, but the final boss remains a brutal test of skill.
