Space Impact Evolution X is a fast-paced shooter that follows up on its predecessor's formula. You pilot a spacecraft through waves of enemies firing rapid laser barrages. The controls focus on movement and shooting with optional power-ups to clear the screen. Missions unfold in linear stages that escalate in difficulty with tighter patterns and tougher bosses. The game came in two versions tailored to Nokia's early mobile platforms. One version shipped with N-Gage hardware while the other adapted to early smartphones. Though dated by modern standards many retro gamers credit it with pushing mobile gaming capabilities in 2003. Its simple mechanics and frantic action still work well in short bursts.
