Space Moguls is a four-player turn-based strategy game where you battle for economic dominance on a hex-grid planet. Each round cycles through distinct phases: outfitting droids with tools to claim resources, navigating production cycles, and trading goods for profit. Land cells generate varying materials like food or ore, while shifting river patterns and random events alter the board. Players balance expansion, trade, and luck as they race to outspend and outproduce rivals. The blend of structured planning and chaotic disruptions sets this apart. Global events can upend strategies mid-game, and direct trading with opponents introduces a layer of negotiation. Running on retro Commodore systems, it channels the spirit of 80s strategy games with modern multiplayer flexibility. Players who adapt to its volatile economy often rise to the top.
You’ve won the trials, now you’re eligible for the off-world finals, will your settlement be the winner among the four finalists? With your ticket to space in hand you're ready to embark on an interstellar journey to competitively settle a planet. The game starts with the players landing on a planet and starts with each player claiming a free land cell of the available ones. The next stage is the development where each player takes a turn to outfit droids with tools and deploy them on their empty land cells. Each turn one player will get a special event that gives or takes away items or money. If there is time left at the end of the development phase the turn can be ended at the pub to receive a little bit extra money for the time that remains. After each player has completed their rounds the Production phase begins where the droids that are installed will produce items that can be traded or used in future turns. Following the production phase a global event is likely to happen. The global event can change the next development phase or change something for a player. The trading phase comes next and gives players a chance to trade items with eachother or the store for money. The price of items is set by walking up and down on the screen to trade with other players willing to match the price or the store for the less profitable deal. After a score update where the player with the most value is at the top the next round of phases begins until the last round where the result is tallied.
