Space Pirates is a 1992 top-down shooter from American Laser Games that pits you against waves of alien foes. You pilot a spaceship through scrolling levels firing missiles and collecting power-ups while fending off enemies that swarm in predictable but relentless patterns. The single-player campaign focuses on straightforward combat with occasional mission objectives like escorting convoys or destroying bases. Controls are tight for arcade-style action but lack deeper strategy elements. This title fits comfortably alongside ALG’s other 90s shooters like The Last Bounty Hunter but adds little new to the formula. Its sci-fi setting feels more like a skin than a defining trait. Despite being released nearly three decades ago it still runs on modern systems through DOS emulators. Players looking for nostalgia or no-frills shooting galleries might find value in its simplicity but others will see it as a minor entry in the developer’s discography.
