Spectipede is a fast-paced arcade game released in late 1983 for a range of 8-bit home computers. Players control a character shooting at waves of insects and other creatures crawling across the screen. The goal is to clear each level by eliminating all enemies before they reach the bottom. Simple controls and quick reflexes make it easy to pick up but tough to master. What sets Spectipede apart is its presence on multiple platforms including the Commodore 64 ZX Spectrum and BBC Micro. This allowed the game to reach a broad audience during the early home computing boom. While not impressive its straightforward design and rapid gameplay made it a common fixture in many households. Its mechanics closely mirror well known predecessors but the lack of significant variations keeps it feeling familiar rather than derivative.
