About

Spider Man and Venom Maximum Carnage is a side scrolling beat em up from 1994 that lets you control either hero in a battle against Carnage’s chaotic crew. The game blends fast paced hack and slash combat with timed button mashes for special moves. Players team up with supporting Marvel characters like Captain America and Black Cat to take down Shriek Doppelganger and other villains. Each level scrolls horizontally with occasional vertical shifts as you fight through stages filled with enemies and environmental hazards. The single player mode focuses on basic brawling with limited depth but plenty of aggressive action. The game’s most notable quirks include its red cartridges for both Genesis and SNES versions a design choice that stood out on store shelves. It spawned a direct sequel called Separation Anxiety and even inspired a Halloween Horror Nights haunted house in 2002. While its combat feels rudimentary by modern standards fans of ’90s Marvel brawlers appreciate its direct ties to the Maximum Carnage comic arc. The game remains a curiosity for collectors and nostalgia seekers.
