Spread Fire is a fast paced shooter that tasks you with fending off waves of enemies using a variety of powerful weapons. Released in 1991 for the Nintendo Entertainment System the game focuses on straightforward action as you battle increasingly difficult foes that multiply as the levels progress. Simple controls and rapid fire mechanics make it easy to pick up though the rising difficulty and limited health can make later stages tense. Part of the Action 52 compilation set it remains a niche title remembered by collectors. Developed by Active Enterprises it carries the era’s signature focus on aggressive enemy behavior and weapon upgrades. While not widely discussed today its inclusion in a multigame cartridge helped keep it relevant among retro gaming circles. Short sessions and checkered graphics keep it from feeling outdated but the lack of modern updates means it appeals mostly to nostalgic players.
