About

Spriggan: Lunar Verse drops you into a globe-hopping race for ancient tech relics left by a long-dead civilization that blew itself up with its own inventions. You play Oshiki Tashiki, a rookie operative for ARCAM, a private military group trying to beat rogue armies and corporations to these dangerous artifacts. The gameplay mixes real-time action with puzzle-solving as you hunt down mysterious relics and stop others from weaponizing them. Combat feels clunky by modern standards but leans into over-the-top melee and gadget-based battles. Exploration spans deserts, jungles, and urban ruins, with missions tied to recovering or destroying artifacts before they spark a global conflict. This 1999 PlayStation title predates FromSoftware’s later fame with Dark Souls and Elden Ring but shows early signs of their love for complex stories and action. The anime-inspired visuals and over-the-top character designs stand out, offering a stylized alternative to the manga and film that share the same universe. While not as polished as later FromSoft entries, it’s a curious relic of the studio’s early days, with a chaotic energy that fans of 90s action-adventures might appreciate. Its cult following remains small but vocal.

Storyline

Lunar Verse takes place in the same world as the manga and film but focuses on a new character and goes for a different visual style. Oshiki Tashiki is a new Striker in the ARCAM Private Army, which seeks out ancient artifacts and keeps them from enemies who wish to turn a cold war into an actual one.
