About

Star Breaker is a top-down role-playing game that merges sci-fi and medieval fantasy elements. Players take control of Harry, a pilot stranded on the planet Menaris after a crash. The game follows a traditional RPG structure with random turn-based battles and a world map to navigate. Combat lets you use swords, guns, or psychic powers, with an auto-battle option for faster pacing. Ship upgrades and space combat add variety to the gameplay. The game’s setting pairs futuristic technology with a medieval society, leading to unique conflicts. The story follows Harry as he aids Menaris against the Doran Empire, eventually facing a threat to the galaxy. Released in 1994 for Turbografx-16 and PC Engine CD, it offers a nostalgic take on classic RPGs with its hybrid genre approach and traditional mechanics.

Storyline

In the future, mankind has learned to navigate space ships. Human beings spread out to different planets of the Milky Way. The hero of the game is a young pilot named Harry. He was testing the newest spacecraft model, but it crash-landed on Menaris, a planet at the outskirts of the Eva solar system, with a medieval-like civilization. Turns out that repairing the ship will be anything but easy, so Harry decides to stay for a while and to help the inhabitants of Menaris with their problems, which involve the over-ambitious Doran Empire. With the help of Aria, princess of Menaris, Harry must discover the truth about Doran's intentions, and when he learns it, he realizes that he won't use the repaired ship to return home, but will have to face something that threatens the entire galaxy.
