Star Firebirds is a retro top-down shooter where you control a ship defending against waves of alien attackers. Your ship sits at the screen's bottom, firing upward while fending off enemies that descend from above. Each level tasks you with eliminating a specific number of two Firebird types before taking down a boss. The challenge grows as enemies swarm faster and fire more bullets, forcing you to time dodges and shots carefully. A standard cannon handles most threats while a limited-use hyperspace ability clears clusters of Firebirds, offering brief respites in tight moments. The game’s repetitive wave structure is offset by its escalating difficulty and the satisfaction of mastering its mechanics.
