About

Stardust is a classic arcade shooter from 1993 that puts you in control of a customizable spaceship battling through chaotic space levels. Play on DOS, Amiga, or Atari ST/STE as you navigate wrap-around screens where enemies and obstacles reappear on the opposite edge. Upgrade your ship with new weapons and shields while fighting through five distinct worlds linked by 3D hyperspace tunnels. Each of the 30 levels is packed with asteroids, swarms of enemies, and challenging boss fights. The game ends with the debut of Professor Schaumund the mutant penguin who would later return in sequels. The game impressed with its smooth controls and technical feats for the time including ray-traced visuals and full-screen animations. Critics and players praised the addictive gameplay balance between strategy and fast-paced action. With its blend of retro charm and advanced features for 90s systems, Stardust remains a cult favorite among classic gaming fans. The penguin antagonist's unexpected return in later entries solidified its legacy as a series starter with lasting impact.
