Starvania: Tales Of The Past is a single-player RPG where you control Alisa, a modern-day shopper yanked into a medieval warzone. Tasked with stopping a demon god in the twisted realm of Moronica, you’ll navigate hand-drawn environments, build a party of quirky allies, and grind through turn-based battles. The game blends traditional RPG mechanics like skill trees and loot drops with a self-aware story that leans into its absurd premise, like a hero worrying about missing a dress purchase. Exploration is straightforward, with dungeons that mix puzzle-solving and enemy encounters. What stands out is the game’s confidence in its goofy tone. Developer Rabbit Studios leans into over-the-top dialogue and character designs without losing focus on core RPG systems. Early access feedback from forums hints at a loyal niche audience, though some note pacing issues in later quests. With its mix of classic mechanics and intentionally campy storytelling, it’s a title that knows exactly what it is, and doubles down.
The land of Starvania is under attack by a demon god living in Moronica. The high priest of Starvania decides it's best to defeat the demon with a human from the future. That human is Alisa who is out shopping for a new dress. She is summoned by a spell from the priest and is dropped right into Starvania. Her only way to get back to the present is to go into the land of Moronica and defeat the demon god. Along the way she makes some friends who help her with the journey. Can you help Alisa get back to the present?
