About Starvault

Starvault is a 5v5 team-based shooter-strategy game that blends MOBA mechanics with sci-fi themes. Developed by Theia Games, it launched on September 10, 2025, for SteamVR and Meta Quest headsets. Set in a galaxy where humans and aliens battle for control of mysterious temples, players pick heroes with unique abilities, form squads, and compete in objective-based matches. The game emphasizes tactical positioning, resource management, and co-operative play. With its focus on VR, it pushes motion controls and engaging combat to the forefront. Think fast-paced lane pushes, jungle clears, and high-stakes team fights, all wrapped in a futuristic setting. Best for fans of competitive multiplayer who want depth and strategy.

Gameplay

Each match starts with hero selection, where you build a team around roles like damage dealers, tanks, and utility. You push lanes, farm creep gold, and clear jungle camps to unlock upgrades. The map features shifting objectives tied to the ancient temples, requiring adaptability. Combat is real-time but methodical, you’ll dodge enemy fire, position for ability combos, and rotate between lanes. VR controls feel precise, with motion-based aiming and quick menu navigation. Matches last 30, 40 minutes, ending when a team destroys the enemy base or secures a temple objective. Co-op is optional but recommended for new players. The game’s difficulty curve is steep, rewarding players who master micro-management and macro-strategy.

What Players Think

PlayPile users rate Starvault 88%, with 78% completion among top 10% players. Average playtime is 20 hours, though 32% of players finish under 15. Community moods: "Competitive" (45%), "Strategic" (38%), and "Frustrating" (17%). Critics praise the "polished VR integration" but note a "steep learning curve." One review: "Feels like a next-gen MOBA but demands patience." 450 achievements are available, with players averaging 300 unlocked. The game’s 5v5 mode is its most played, while co-op sees lower engagement. Price at $59.99 sits below the VR average, making it accessible for early adopters.

PlayPile's Take

Starvault is a bold but niche pick. It thrives for VR enthusiasts and MOBA veterans who want deep strategy. The 450 achievements and high replayability justify the price if you’re invested in competitive play. However, the steep learning curve and 32% completion rate suggest it’s not for casual gamers. If you’ve played Dota or Valorant and crave tactical depth in a sci-fi setting, it’s worth the time. Otherwise, skip unless you’re a VR purist.

Storyline

In 2300, a hundred years after discovering superluminal travel, humanity has colonized the galaxy, encountering multiple sentient species and founding thousands of new worlds living in a decentralized society marked by trade, diplomacy, and wars. During their expansion, humanity encountered a planet without intelligent life but with ancient temples that did not belong to any known advanced civilization. Anomalies in time behavior at these temples defy existing physical laws. The temples' enigma attracts various characters from across the galaxy - some seek to unlock ancient prophecies, others are driven by scientific or personal motives. The struggle to control these temples escalates on a planet near the galactic core. WHO WILL BECOME THE MASTER OF STARVAULT?
