Steel Horizon lets you command a WWII naval fleet across turn-based planning and real-time 3D battles. You take control of one of three secret US warships fighting Axis forces and a hidden enemy in 20 missions set in the Atlantic and Pacific. Assign ships like battleships submarines and carriers to your fleet then issue orders in a grid-based strategy phase before watching the action unfold in dynamic combat. Each mission offers choices in ship upgrades and tactics with weapons ranging from battleship cannons to torpedo attacks. The game supports wireless multiplayer for head-to-head fleet clashes. The mix of strategic planning and chaotic real-time naval warfare stands out alongside detailed ship customization. Players appreciate the blend of tactics and action though the PSP and DS versions show their age with dated visuals. With 20 single-player missions and replayability through different flagship builds the game offers a focused WWII naval challenge. Released in 2007 its dual strategy modes and focus on fleet management remain its strongest features.
