About

Steeplechase is a six-player racing game from 1975 that turns horse races into button-mashing contests. Each player picks a horse and races to be the first to cross the finish line. To clear obstacles, players hit their colored button at the right moment. The game keeps moving steadily forward, letting reflexes decide who dodges hurdles best. The final horse on screen is controlled by the game itself, always racing but never winning. This early arcade title leans into chaotic multiplayer fun, letting friends or strangers compete in quick rounds. While the visuals are basic, the real draw is the tight, competitive rhythm of timing leaps. With its 1975 release, it’s a relic of a time when arcade cabinets were just starting to crowd with competitive games. It’s simple, physical, and best played when someone’s elbow is in your face.
