Strange Terror from the Deep by Dave Microwaves Games is a tense adventure game set aboard a decaying submarine. Players navigate the S.S. Strange Terror, a vessel repurposed from a space lab to hold dangerous creatures. The ship's containment systems have failed, releasing a deadly monster. You play as Jay or Alice, surviving the chaos by solving environmental puzzles and making critical decisions. The gameplay focuses on exploration and survival, with players choosing to either find an exit or confront the beast directly. Each choice affects the outcome, leading to multiple possible endings. The game stands out for its claustrophobic atmosphere and branching narrative. With 12 distinct endings reported by the community, player actions and puzzle-solving skills determine survival. While the 2019 release date means it's been around a while, its tight design and replayability keep it relevant. The lack of combat mechanics adds to the suspense, forcing players to rely on wit and timing. A straightforward yet challenging experience for those who enjoy puzzle-driven survival stories.
After the events of the previous game, many members of the former space crew moved on to work on the S.S. Strange Terror, a large submarine built out of recycled wreckage from the space lab, used for containing strange monsters and delivering them to paying clients. One night, strange human-like screaming is heard coming from nearby the containment zone, causing a few employees to open the area up to check it out. The monster is then revealed to have escaped containment and killed most of its handlers. It kills the two investigating employees offscreen, and with the door to the rest of the ship now open, goes on a massacre across the sub. Jay/Alice is caught in the chaos, and needs to find a way to either escape the submarine or kill the monster. The game has many different endings, and who survives is up to the player's skill and choice.
