Stunt Cycle is a motorcycle racing game that leans heavily into physical controls. Players twist a handlebar grip to accelerate and lean through split-level tracks displayed on a large CRT monitor. The screen uses a black and white overlay to create exaggerated tube-like structures that form the track’s pathways. Sound effects include engine revs, crashes, and crowd noises that react to your performance. The single and multiplayer modes focus on timing and balance as you navigate between stacked track levels. The game’s most distinctive feature is its control setup, which mimics real motorcycle handling for a hands-on feel. It was later adapted to a dedicated home console using a custom chip, with Sears selling a version called Motocross. Released in 1976, it remains a rare example of early arcade hardware pushing beyond simple joysticks. The original cabinet’s 19-inch monitor and mechanical steering made it stand out in its era.
