Stunt Race FX is a 3D racing game built with the Super FX chip that powered Star Fox. You drive high-speed vehicles through polygonal tracks filled with jumps, ramps, and tight turns. The split-screen mode lets two players race head to head while the single-player mode offers time trials and a series of increasingly tricky courses. The cartoonish visuals and blocky 3D models give it a distinct look for the time though the frame rate can stutter during intense action. The game stood out in 1994 as one of the first to push the Super Nintendo’s hardware beyond 2D. While the track design is repetitive and the controls feel loose at times the competitive multiplayer remains fun for quick matches. It holds a 78% on Metacritic but many retro racers praise its ambition. If you owned a SNES and never tried it now’s a good time to revisit a quirky footnote in racing game history.
