Subnautica 2 drops you onto a strange alien planet where survival hinges on exploration and resource management. You can go it solo or team up with a friend to chart the terrain gather materials and avoid the world’s dangers. The gameplay loops around crafting underwater navigation and uncovering secrets buried in the environment. It's a slow burn but the rewards come from piecing together the planet’s story and staying one step ahead of its threats. Unknown Worlds Entertainment brings their expertise in survival mechanics to this sequel. Playing on PC or Xbox Series X|S Subnautica 2 adds co-op mode which changes how you approach exploration and base building. While still in development community interest is high with early builds showing smooth controls and a detailed ecosystem. It’s a natural next step for fans of the first games but not without its own twists.
Storyline
The Alterra colony ship Cicada, bound for the desert world of Zezura, inexplicably diverts course and crash-lands on an uncharted ocean moon called Proteus. The world's extreme atmospheric pressure and heavy metal contamination means all human life will perish within months. To survive, the ship's AI uses "reprinting" technology to restore backed-up consciousness into new bodies, but the process causes severe memory loss. Decades after the original colonists vanish under mysterious circumstances, a new investigator is printed to uncover what happened to them and confront the secrets hidden beneath the alien ocean.

Background: Last summer, Bloomberg broke the news that Krafton had fired the execs behind Subnautica 2 and delayed the game months before it was due to pay the $250 million bonus. Krafton argued that the game wasn't ready. People who played it told me otherwise. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Just noticed that Subnautica 2 is the most wishlisted/followed game on Steam due out this year. By a large margin, too. The same Subnautica 2 that is apparently going to be self-published by the devs now after Krafton decided to self-destruct over having to pay bonuses. They're gonna make bank.
