Substation

About

Substation is a 1996 first-person shooter where you fight aliens invading a submerged research facility. Use pistols shotguns and grenades to clear corridors and labs while avoiding traps and environmental hazards. The Atari ST/STE version supports split-screen multiplayer for two players taking turns or playing together. Despite its age Substation's tight gunplay and claustrophobic level design still feel engaging. The underwater setting adds tension with limited visibility and creaking metal sounds. Retro gaming communities occasionally revisit it for the challenge though modern shooters have surpassed its visuals and pacing.
