About

Supaplex is a puzzle arcade game that adds clever twists to the classic Boulder Dash formula. Players navigate a character through grid-based levels, but movement isn't locked to rigid tile transitions. Objects can exist between grid points creating smoother yet more complex interactions. The game introduces hazards like electrified terrain pieces and directional portals while its signature mechanic revolves around three types of explosive floppy disks. Each disk color behaves differently when pushed dropped or triggered by terminals requiring precise planning to clear levels. What stands out is the tight control over non-grid movement which was rare for 1991 games. The layered puzzle elements demand both timing and spatial reasoning with hazards that force creative route planning. Though released on DOS and Amiga it's gained retro gaming cult status for its polished difficulty curve and inventive level design. Classic gaming communities still rank it among the most original puzzle games of the early 90s.
