This platformer brings a classic formula to the Texas Instruments TI-99 with tight controls and creative level design. Players jump and attack through scrolling stages filled with 13 distinct enemies and animated tiles. Power-ups add variety like size changes and fireball throws. The final boss offers a decent challenge without being unfair. The whole package runs smoothly on hardware most people didn’t think could handle it. The real standout is the included level editor which works directly on the calculator. Letting users build and share their own worlds was ahead of its time for the platform. While not every feature from the original Mario series makes an appearance, the core gameplay loops feel polished. Community favorites often cite the editor’s accessibility and the clever use of limited hardware. Released in 2001, it still holds up as a clever technical achievement.
