Super Mario All-Star Attack is a platformer where you control the Mario brothers as they chase down Bowser through a warped Mushroom World. The story follows a classic formula: stop Bowser’s latest scheme, which this time involves a stolen artifact called the All-Star. Players navigate side-scrolling levels filled with goombas, koopas, and shifting terrain, using standard jumps, fireballs, and power-ups. The game leans into fast paced action with tight controls, though the level design mixes familiar themes with a few new twists. Progress is linear and focused on overcoming obstacles rather than open exploration. The game stands out for its callback to retro Mario elements, like sprixies and references to older lore, which fans might appreciate. While not breaking new ground for the genre, it executes core platforming mechanics with reliability. The threat of Bowser’s warping adds urgency to the level transitions, and the inclusion of Wanda as a lore guide gives the story a slight character boost. With no co op or multiplayer modes, it’s a straightforward challenge for solo players. Early playtests suggest it’s a solid throwback for series veterans but offers little surprise for newcomers.
