Super Puyo Puyo 2 is a fast-paced puzzle game where players link four or more colored blocks to clear them and send obstacles to opponents. The action centers on timing and strategy as pieces drop, with each match triggering cascading combos that can turn the tide in multiplayer matches. The single-player story mode tasks Arle Nadja with climbing a tower by battling AI foes through a roulette system, while local modes support head-to-head competition on split-screen. Endless mode adds a no-holds-barred challenge for solo players. The tower mode’s structure keeps matches varied, requiring players to balance score goals across floors to avoid being thrown out. Each floor’s EXP targets scale in difficulty, pushing players to refine their tactics. Storyline

As opposed to the first game's linear Scenario mode, Tsu's main mode is a tower where Arle Nadja selects opponents to battle via roulette. Each "floor" of the tower has an EXP total that the player must reach in order to advance. If the player defeats all of a floor's opponents without meeting the goal, one final opponent will appear. If, after defeating this extra opponent, the player still fails to meet the goal, Arle is booted from the tower and the game ends. The EXP goals vary from version to version; for example, Super Puyo Puyo Tsu requires twice as many points to clear the first floor as the arcade or Mega Drive versions.
