"Super Battle Golf succeeds in being a good time among friends by forcing players to interact with each other, but doesn’t nearly every multiplayer game achieve the same purpose? Is Super Battle Golf fun, or do I just like my friends? It can sometimes be hard to discern the difference."

Super Sentai Battle: Ranger Cross throws you into chaotic brawls as a member of iconic tokusatsu teams. Play as characters from five different series including the 1975 debut Himitsu Sentai Goranger and the 2011 Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The action leans into musou-style combat where you slash through waves of enemies on foot and in mechs. Each mission tasks you with clearing the screen before moving forward. Simple controls focus on bashing, kicking, and special moves. The single-player campaign weaves in team-specific story beats while emphasizing pure button-mashing fun. The game stands out for including Goranger as the first non-Heisei era team fully playable outside crossovers. While Gokaiger remains central to the roster, the ability to swap between decades-old heroes adds unexpected variety. Fans noted the dated 2011 visuals hold up better than similar entries thanks to polished animations. A niche pick for series veterans but the repetitive combat loops may wear thin for newcomers.
