Super Star Force: Jikuureki no Himitsu is a 1986 shoot ’em up from Tehkan that tasks you with piloting a spacecraft through chaotic waves of enemies. The gameplay mixes straightforward shooting with tricky timing, as you dodge enemy fire across shifting environments like alien strongholds and space stations. You’ll face UFOs, mechanical beasts, and armies of grunts in stages that blend direct combat with occasional ground-based vehicle sections. It’s a no-frills challenge designed to test reflexes and patience, with score multipliers to chase during your run. The game became a niche curiosity after appearing on the 14th season of GameCenter CX. A publishing quirk adds to its story, Tecmo (then Tehkan) took full control of development after Hudson Soft, originally assigned to publish it, stepped aside. This led to a Famicom-exclusive Japanese release alongside an NES port. With minimal modern coverage, it’s a forgotten title for retro shooter fans. The original version dropped on November 11, 1986, and remains a single-player endurance test wrapped in 8-bit simplicity.
