Super Tank is a two-player co-op shooter where armored vehicles battle through minefields and enemy ranks to dismantle a giant boss. Players clear obstacles, shoot down red tanks, and collect glowing diamonds that temporarily boost defenses. The mission culminates in a showdown against the SUPER TANK, a fast-moving foe with a single exploitable weak spot. The game’s structure shifts between resource management and direct combat, balancing survival tactics with precision aiming. The design leans into its 1980s roots, with pixelated vehicles and simple but responsive controls. Unique to its era, the German and Japanese versions reimagined the tanks as floral, centaur-like creatures firing water from noses, a nod to wartime censorship norms. Released in 1986 on Sega’s SG-1000, it’s a relic of early arcade-style co-op action. The diamond mechanics and boss targeting still feel satisfyingly niche, especially for fans of older co-op shooters.
