Swigridova kletba is a DOS-based point-and-click adventure from 1996 that leans into fairy-tale tropes with a local twist. You play Robin, a shepherd tasked with breaking a centuries-old curse by retrieving a stolen magic horn. The game uses mouse-driven controls with a single action button for interacting with environments, characters, and puzzles. Inventory management is straightforward, with collected items stored at the bottom of the screen. Dialogue and exploration drive the narrative, as you piece together the story of Swigrid the wizard and his vendetta against springtime. This Czech title stands out for its early use of voice acting, a rarity at the time, with the development team providing their own performances. The winter-solstice curse premise and folkloric setting give it a distinct charm, though the simplicity of its puzzles and linear progression may feel dated. Its historical significance as a regional early effort in the genre earns it a niche spot among retro adventure fans.
The Manahon county has suffered for hundreds of years from a strange curse. Every year, on the day of the winter solstice, the most important citizen of the county must blow the horn of Kerke to make spring come. But the evil wizard Swigrid hates the sound of the horn and spring as well, so he steals the horn. The player controls the simple shepherd Robin who is the only one who can defeat the evil Swigrid and return the magic horn.
