Sword of Fargoal is a dungeon-crawling RPG where you descend through procedurally generated levels to retrieve a legendary weapon. Your goal is to locate the Sword of Fargoal between levels 15 and 20 and return it to a blind knight before time runs out. Each floor is a maze filled with enemies and loot. Once the sword is secured, you have 30 minutes to escape. Losing it forces you to backtrack to where it was found and reclaim it. The game’s progression system rewards careful resource management. Experience points are earned by defeating foes and spent to level up, with thresholds doubling at each rank (200, 400, 800, etc.). Temples on certain levels let you trade collected treasure for instant experience, adding strategic depth. While the graphics and sound are basic by modern standards, the tight loop of exploration, combat, and risk-reward decisions has kept it a cult classic among old-school RPG fans.
