Tactician puts your ship at the bottom of the screen as waves of enemies descend. Before each round you have 30 seconds to build defensive structures which act as your only cover during combat. Gameplay shifts between methodical base building and frantic shooting as you fend off increasingly aggressive attacks. The tension between planning and reacting creates a rhythm that tests both strategy and reflexes. What lingers is the clever balance between preparation and execution. The 30-second window forces quick decision making while the action phases demand precise aiming. Released in 1981 it offered a fresh twist on arcade shooters with dual player support making it popular in arcades. Though hardware is scarce today the game's core loop of building then battling influenced later hybrid genres.
