Taiko no Tatsujin: Atsumete - Tomodachi Daisakusen! is a rhythm game where players bash drums in time with music, either solo or with friends. The core action revolves around hitting notes in sequence using a drum controller, with tracks spanning pop, rock, and traditional Japanese tunes. A new single-player mode follows Katsu, the younger Taiko sibling, as he tries to win over street animals with his drumming. Multiplayer modes like Baton Pass and Intro Don! return, letting up to four players take turns or battle in quick rounds. The game adds Nintendo-specific features like Amiibo support, letting figurines unlock content, and Miiverse integration for sharing scores. As part of the franchise’s 15th anniversary, it includes bonus items and a gacha-style system for unlocking new songs. While the story of Katsu befriending animals feels lightweight, the responsive controls and diverse tracklist keep it engaging. Longtime fans appreciate the return of classic modes, though newcomers might find the setup daunting without a drum pad.
One day, the Wada family (including their neighbour Hana) arrived at the airport to catch up with the air flight to Hawaii for vacation. Unfortunately, Katsu, the youngest of the Taiko drum duo, slips on a banana peel and crashes into a wall, knocking him out unconscious in the process. As he wakes up, Katsu finds out that he missed the flight and Don and the others have already left for Hawaii without him. He thinks forward about what can he do while no one is at home as he feels lonely before he settled on something: to become the top popularity star of the (singular) street. How will Katsu do to accomplish this? By befriends the animals around the street!
