Takt of Magic is a strategy RPG for the Wii that blends spellcasting and tactical planning. Developed by Taito and published by Nintendo, it uses the Wii Remote for motion-based spellcasting, players draw specific patterns to cast moves from a pool of over 100 options. Before battles, you map out strategies on an overworld grid, then assemble a four-member squad to fight alongside your main character. Each teammate’s icon shows their condition through facial expressions, letting you adjust tactics mid-fight. The game’s standout feature is its intuitive gesture-based magic system, which feels more active than traditional button mashing. Split-screen co-op lets two players team up, though its 2009 Japan-only release and lack of global follow-up have kept it a niche title. Despite its short lifespan, fans of tactical RPGs with hands-on mechanics still cite its blend of planning and motion controls as fresh for the genre.
