Tale of Jade Li Guang is a rogue-like card game built around elemental strategy and exploration. Players assemble a deck using five distinct card types tied to elemental themes, then navigate a procedurally generated map filled with combat, puzzles, and narrative choices. Each run blends deck-building depth with turn-based encounters, as you battle corrupted entities and piece together the history of a fictional ancient kingdom. Progression hinges on balancing card synergies with resource management, while random events force adaptive thinking. The game’s design pulls from real-world archaeological sites in China’s Liangzhu culture, weaving historical mystique into its framework. Twelve ritual chambers named after traditional Chinese timekeeping symbols shape both story beats and gameplay mechanics, linking in-game mechanics to cultural concepts like organ systems and temporal cycles. Though still untested by players, its niche fusion of rogue-like structure and myth-driven card combat has already drawn curiosity from strategy and RPG communities.
The inspiration of the story "Tale of Jade Li Guang came from the remains of the Yaoshan altar of the Liangzhu culture in China. There are twelve tombs at the Yaoshan site, and based on this background, we created a story and name 12 ritual rooms by Twelve Branches. The Twelve Branches are the traditional Chinese concept of timekeeping. At the same time, in the traditional concept, the Twelve Branches also related to the internal organs. The two concepts corresponding to the Twelves Branches will influence the development of the plot in the game.
