Tales of Escape is a puzzle-driven adventure game that blends single-player and co-op play. Set in self-contained scenarios, it tasks one or more players with solving environmental mysteries to progress. The first story Cold as Ice drops you and up to five others into a dimly lit 1990s butcher shop filled with hidden mechanisms and cryptic clues. Players switch between exploring physical spaces and using inventory items to figure out the location’s secrets. The game supports virtual reality headsets but works just as well on regular PCs. What stands out is the flexibility to mix VR and non-VR players in the same session. This lets friends with different setups collaborate seamlessly. While the butcher shop scenario is the only story available at launch, the structure hints at potential expansions. Community feedback notes the puzzles are challenging but fair, with a focus on teamwork over combat. The minimal dialogue and atmospheric design keep the focus on problem-solving.
