You play as Caius, a kid who can turn into a beast mode to hunt down his birth parents. Battles happen on three lines where you switch between characters, using the DS touch screen for new attack moves. The game looks 3D and keeps the action style from older Tales games. The werewolf transformations let characters get stronger but lose some abilities, adding risk-reward to fights. While some fans wish for more depth, the touch screen mechanics bring fresh twists to the series. Released in 2006, it’s a solid pick for handheld RPG players.
