"In conclusion, Toy Tanks is an OK arena action game. What kills most of the fun in this game are the strange controls, with nothing that’s really practical. Thus, Toy Tanks just feels a lot more clunky and complicated than a game like this has every right to be, but if you can somehow get over the crazy hurdle of this game’s control schemes, then you do have a decent, sixty-level experience to blast through, along with a goofy two player battle mode. So at the end of the day, Toy Tanks isn’t a bad game, just a very clunky one with some weird learning curves, leaving a middle of the road experience in its place."

About

Tank Attack is a two-player arcade game where you steer a tank across a single screen and fire at your opponent. The goal is simple eliminate them before they do the same to you. Movement and shooting are handled with basic controls making it easy to pick up but tricky to master. You can move in any direction and unleash a barrage of shells while dodging incoming fire. The action is fast and frantic with each round ending in a fiery explosion for the loser. The game’s competitive edge is clear from the start. With head-to-head battles basically it’s a no-nonsense showdown that pits skill against reflexes. The Commodore 16 version from December 1986 has a community rating that leans into the challenge with players noting how quick matches can turn on a single mistake. Its straightforward design and lack of extras mean the focus stays on the duel.
