Defend your last outpost from spectral invaders in this 1982 Atari 2600 shooter. Guide up to five tanks through three progressively brutal scenarios where enemy forces vanish and reappear to dismantle your defenses. Each level forces you into tighter spaces, starting with maze-like cover, narrowing to a single island, and ending in a direct clash. Track enemy numbers via a counter beneath your base and watch your remaining tanks update after each loss or level start. The 20-wave assault demands smart positioning and quick reflexes. Tanks But No Tanks thrives on its escalating tension and minimalist design. The lack of visible enemies creates paranoia as phantom threats materialize unpredictably. With limited resources and no respawns, every decision counts. Though the graphics are basic by today’s standards, the core loop of survival under siege holds up as a sharp test of arcade-era strategy.
