In Tapeworm you control Slinky a digitized slug that inches through a pixelated field gorging on beans. Each bean you consume expands Slinky’s length forcing tighter navigation as you avoid crashing into your own tail. The screen constantly regenerates beans in random spots keeping you chasing. Three AI predators including a beetle and a bird patrol the edges aiming to intercept Slinky before he reaches target fruits. Your goal is to outpace these threats while maneuvering a growing snake through limited space. The game supports two players taking turns which adds a competitive twist though the controls feel sluggish and precise positioning is rare. The game’s biggest hurdles are its rough execution. Graphics consist of basic blocks with enemies and environments that strain belief as farm produce. Movement feels delayed making tight turns frustrating. Despite this the core loop of expanding and dodging holds a rudimentary charm. Tapeworm borrows clearly from Nibbler and Surround but lacks their polish. It remains a relic of early arcade design where simple mechanics trumped presentation. The challenge isn’t in mastering the level but in learning to tolerate its quirks while surviving three minutes of relentless chaos.
